Why hair and beauty salons in Ballarat lose calls
The trade
You cannot answer the phone with your hands in a client’s hair, and stopping mid-service to take a booking annoys the person in the chair. The call goes unanswered, and the booking goes somewhere with an online form.
Ballarat
Ballarat has a lot of older housing, so callers frequently describe a problem that needs triage before anyone can quote it.
When the calls actually land
Saturday mornings, and the evening run of bookings for the following weekend. Estric AI covers all of it, including between 5pm and 8am AEST, on weekends and on VIC public holidays, so a caller in Central Highlands reaches a real conversation instead of a message bank.
What answering the phone in Ballarat actually involves
Ballarat has a great deal of older housing, much of it heritage, and callers frequently describe a problem that needs triage before anyone can sensibly quote it. Slate roofs, cast iron, lath and plaster and original wiring all produce calls a generic script cannot handle. Establishing the age and construction of the property during the call saves an inspection nobody is paid for. The city also runs a genuine winter, colder than most of Victoria, which concentrates heating and hot water failures into a season when every local trade is already booked. Ballarat is close enough to Melbourne that larger jobs attract city firms and far enough that most routine work stays local. A local 03 number answered in the evening catches the caller whose heater died overnight, which in a Central Highlands July is the most valuable call of the day.
Areas covered from Ballarat
One 03 number covers the whole of Central Highlands, including Wendouree, Sebastopol. There is nothing to change per suburb: the same agent answers, books and escalates wherever the caller happens to be.
- Wendouree · Central Highlands
Wendouree’s housing runs newer than Ballarat’s heritage core, so calls there need less triage over construction type and more over which estate the caller actually lives in. - Sebastopol · Central Highlands
Sebastopol sits on Ballarat’s southern edge where older housing meets newer infill, so the same trade fields a wiring job from a 1970s house and a warranty call from next door in one week.

Common questions
Does it know how long each service takes?
Yes. Service durations come from your own service list, so the calendar stays realistic.
Can it take a deposit?
It can send a branded payment link and hold the slot until it is paid, if you turn that on for a service.
Do I get a Ballarat phone number?
You can take a local 03 number, or keep the number you already advertise and forward it to Estric AI when you cannot pick up. Callers in Central Highlands see a local number either way, and nothing changes on your van, your signage or your listings.
Does it work outside Ballarat business hours?
Yes. It answers every call, including between 5pm and 8am AEST and right through weekends and public holidays. Saturday mornings, and the evening run of bookings for the following weekend is exactly when a message bank costs you the most.
